Job description

FTE: Full time - 80 hours - biweekly
Shift: Days

Sign-on bonus: $5,000

Job Overview:

Under general supervision, this position decontaminates, cleans, prepares, retrieves, and assists with sterilization of surgical items and equipment. It also stores, issues, and distributes medical/surgical supplies in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Must have the knowledge and ability to use specific mechanical equipment, such as sonic cleaners, washer sterilizers, steam sterilizers, EtO sterilizers, Sterrad, and Steris, along with other specialized equipment. Basic knowledge of regulatory agency requirements and adherence to guidelines is essential.

Job Requirements:
  1. High School Degree or GED
  2. Able to read, write, speak English, and perform simple math operations.
  3. Ability to provide leadership and oversee the work of technicians
  4. Operate hazardous equipment
  5. Knowledge of microbiology, infection control, and computerized record keeping
  6. Up to 1 year of experience
Job Responsibilities:
  1. Use proper sterilization methods for items being processed, complete sterilization records according to policy, and process proper biologicals according to policy.
  2. Perform proper storage of supplies, check items for outdates, ensure proper rotation of stock, and maintain proper storage according to standards.
  3. Inspect, assemble, wrap, and properly label instrument sets, trays, and other items for processing according to policy.
  4. Fill case carts to an acceptable and accurate level according to set standards and information provided, including stat case carts within 15 minutes of request.
  5. Conduct decontamination and breakdown of patient equipment, instrument sets, and case carts according to set procedure standards and information provided.
