This role involves sterilizing and cleaning medical equipment, instruments, and supplies. Responsibilities include retrieving contaminated supplies, delivering sterile supplies, maintaining inventory, and preparing sterile instrument trays for surgeries, examinations, and procedures. The technician tests and reports any issues with sterilization equipment.

Principal Accountabilities

• Operate sterilization equipment accurately and safely, preparing and sterilizing instruments and supplies according to protocols.
• Handle and care for instruments properly, selecting appropriate cleaning agents and lubricants.
• Peel-pack supplies/instruments, wrap instruments for sterilization, and inspect each instrument for usability, function, and cleanliness.
• Ensure safety and quality standards are met for patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to policies and procedures.
• Clean, set up, sterilize, and distribute instruments as scheduled.
• Handle and dispose of infectious waste properly.
• Follow Standard Precautions, including the use of protective barriers such as gloves, masks, gowns, and safety glasses.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Sterile Processing program.
• Certified Central Service Technician (CBSPD or HSPA) certification required.
• Prior experience preferred.
