Summary of Position: This job is responsible for maintaining sterilization equipment and surgical instruments, issuing packing and sterilization of supplies, instrument trays and inventory service to surgery and patient care units.

Minimum Qualifications: Individual must provide evidence of one of the following:

  • Holds and maintains either the Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) credential.
  • Previously employed or contracted for services as a central service technician by Penn State Health (PSH) or another healthcare facility on or before December 29, 2020, or had been employed as a central service technician at any time prior to December 29, 2020.

or:

  • New employees who do not meet one of the above requirements have 18 months to obtain the CRCST or CSPDT credential to maintain employment.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience as a Surgical Technician or Sterile Processing Technician is preferred.
