Job summary

Geisinger Wyoming Valley is seeking a dedicated Sterile Processing Technician for the evening shift (2:30pm - 11pm). A $3000 signing bonus is offered if eligible, with training provided to achieve required CRCST/CBSPD certification within 18 months.

Responsibilities include cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, and distribution of instruments, while maintaining meticulous records and adhering to strict safety and infection control standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) - Required.
• CRCST certification within 18 months of hire or state grandfathering guidelines.
• Training provided to obtain required certification.

Responsibilities

• Clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, sterilize and store reusable surgical instruments and medical equipment.
• Monitor and operate sterilization equipment to maintain sterility and infection control.
• Precept new employees and verify proper cleaning and sanitization of supplies.
• Prepare and deliver equipment for surgeries, exams and medical procedures.
• Maintain records of sterilization procedures and inventory control.

Job Summary

Job Duties

Responsible for the cleaning, decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instruments and medical equipment, ensuring their proper functionality and sterility to prevent infection within a healthcare facility, adhering to strict guidelines and protocols established by regulatory agencies.

• Collecting used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for sorting and decontamination.
• Manually cleaning supplies of contaminants, removing waste matter, and operating and maintaining decontamination equipment.
• Preparing and packing decontaminated supplies for sterilization.
• Monitoring and operating sterilization equipment.
• Acts as a preceptor new employees.
• Examining supplies meticulously to ensure they are properly cleaned and sanitized.
• Testing and reporting any issues or problems with the sterilization equipment.
• Sterilizing, preparing, wrapping, and organizing equipment into instrument trays for use during medical procedures.
• Preparing and delivering all necessary equipment and instruments for surgeries, examinations, medical procedures, and medical carts.
• Maintaining records of sterilization procedures, sterilized items, equipment maintenance, and supplies.
• Controlling the inventory, reordering supplies, and checking expiration dates.
