Job summary

Genesis HealthCare System in Ohio is seeking a Central Sterile Technician to cleanse, disinfect, and terminally sterilize instruments and equipment used in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. You will assemble trays, maintain sterility, and operate instrument tracking systems in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified in Sterile Processing and Distribution or obtain within two years.
• Knowledgeable of medical terminology.
• Demonstrate interest and ability to learn required psychomotor skills.
• Solid interpersonal skills including listening, talking, patience, judgment, initiative, and ability to relate with others.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and follow instruction manuals written in English.

Responsibilities

• Assemble all components of trays used within area of responsibility.
• Keep equipment coordinator informed of problems or suspected problems with equipment and instruments.
• Use sterilization processes in place including steam, Sterrad and Steris.
• Maintain event related sterility according to procedure.
• Demonstrates understanding of decontamination and sterilization process of instruments and equipment used throughout the hospital.
• Understand instruments and instrument trays used daily and their maintenance.
• Use Impress Instrument Tracking System in each area.
