Job summary

i-Health's Plymouth Surgery Center is seeking a Sterile Processing (SPD) Technician to perform decontamination and processing of surgical instruments and equipment in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.

This casual part-time role requires knowledge of aseptic technique, adherence to infection-control standards, ability to stand long shifts, and collaboration with OR staff to ensure a smooth surgical flow. High school diploma or GED required; SPD certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Sterile Processing Tech certification preferred.
• Instrument processing/Sterile processing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, assemble, wrap, and sterilize equipment, supplies, and instruments.
• Distinguish operator error from equipment malfunction and ensure equipment functionality.
• Maintain sanitary and safety standards per applicable regulations (AAMI, ANSI).
• Follow cleaning checklists and restock as needed.
• Communicate with operating room staff to ensure smooth surgical flow.
• Report incidents per center policy and act as a preceptor when needed.
• Participate in continuing education and cost-control initiatives.

Education

High School diploma/GED or equivalent

Sterile Processing Tech certification preferred

Instrument processing/Sterile processing experience preferred
