Job summary

The Sterile Processing Technician at Westmont, IL is responsible for the care and preparation of surgical instruments and supplies according to AAMI standards. The technician maintains inventory, orders supplies, and conducts sterilizer testing while keeping accurate records.

You will organize time and equipment for the OR schedule, use equipment safely to prevent loss or breakage, uphold aseptic techniques, manage instrument room stock, perform daily tests, and assist with OR turnover between

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Instrument technician experience, 2 years or equivalent.
• Certified Sterile Processing Certificate required.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique and sterilization principles.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Organize time, equipment, supplies for the OR based on the daily schedule.
• Use equipment properly to prevent loss or breakage.
• Maintain proper aseptic techniques and sterilization standards.
• Manage inventory in instrument, decontamination, and sterile supply rooms.
• Perform daily sterilizer testing and maintain logs.
• Use IFUs for cleaning and sterilization of instruments.
• Wrap, clean, and sterilize instruments using steam, Sterrad, Steris, and endoscope reprocessor.
• Ensure instruments are accounted for upon receipt from the OR.
• Assist in OR turnover between cases; perform other duties as assigned.
