Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Leominster, MA, is seeking an Instrument Technician in Central Sterile Supplies to ensure proper sterilization and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment. The role includes autoclave operation and testing, following AMMI guidelines, with on-call weekend coverage and a 40-hour workweek.

Requirements include a High School diploma or equivalent, a MA driver’s license, and CRCST certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Massachusetts driver’s license required.
• CRCST certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure autoclave units operate properly daily.
• Inspect autoclaves for malfunctions and report to Manager.
• Run biological and chemical tests at start of the shift.
• Prepare, assemble and package items for sterilization.
• Load, operate and clean sterilizers and related equipment.
• Restock supply carts and distribute items to nursing units.
• Take on-call shifts on weekends and holidays.
• Participate in performance improvement and training.
