Job summary

Shields Health in Medford, MA, is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. This full-time role reports to the ASC Nurse Manager and follows a Monday through Friday 9am–5pm schedule, supporting sterilization, assembly, and case cart preparation for surgical procedures.

The ideal candidate has at least one year in Central Processing, strong attention to detail, and reliable teamwork. Certification in Central Service is preferred to join our high‑quality perioperative services.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year work experience in Central Processing.
• Experience in Ambulatory Surgery or Outpatient Surgery preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Actively works to promote and maintain an organizational culture.
• Promotes participation in staff meetings and training.
• Ensures proper decontamination, cleaning, and processing of instruments.
• Assembles and packages instrument sets according to manufacturer’s instructions.
• Maintains inventories and logs for sterilization equipment.
• Prepares surgical case carts and ensures package integrity and expiry checks.
• Assists with OR flow and supports fluctuating staffing needs.
• Promotes teamwork and precepts new caregivers.
