Responsibilities include processing instruments, operating sterilizers, documenting cycles, and restocking storage areas. Requires a high school diploma and 1 year of experience in sterile processing or surgical services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year of sterile processing or surgical services experience preferred.
• Knowledge of instrument processing procedures and infection control standards.

Responsibilities

• Receive used instruments and supplies from operating rooms and clinical areas.
• Clean instruments using ultrasonic washers and other approved equipment.
• Follow infection control protocols for handling biohazardous materials.
• Inspect instruments for damage and proper function before reassembly.
• Assemble instrument trays and sterilization configurations per protocols.
• Package items for sterilization and label with indicators and dates.
• Operate steam autoclaves, low-temperature sterilizers, and high-level disinfectants.
• Monitor sterilization cycles and document results.
• Restock case carts and maintain cleanliness in the sterile processing area.
