Job summary

Virtua Health is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician to support infection control by cleaning, decontaminating, sterilizing and distributing medical instruments for use in patient care. You will work with surgical teams in OR, L&D and related areas to ensure sterile equipment is ready for procedures, while maintaining documentation and quality checks.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and completion of a sterile processing course with CRCST certification within six months.

Qualifications

Previous sterile processing experience preferred.
High School Diploma or GED.
CRCST/CBSPD Certification required within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

Prepares, inspects and assembles surgical instruments, powered surgical equipment, and endoscopes into instrument trays or packages of individual items for sterilization.
Collects, cleans, disinfects patient care equipment and surgical instruments from clinical units, the OR, L&D and other areas performing invasive procedures.
Assists in the orientation and training of new hires.
Operates, monitors and documents biological and mechanical results of decontamination and sterilization equipment.
Delivers patient care equipment, inventories specialty carts and replenishes supplies for the department and Centralized OR Case Cart System.
Prepares and distributes clean and sterile equipment and supplies.
Transports soiled and sterile surgical instrumentation between facilities.
