Job summary

Virtua Health in New Jersey is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support infection control by cleaning, decontaminating, sterilizing and distributing medical instruments for use by surgical teams in OR, L&D and related areas.

The position requires prior sterile processing experience, a high school diploma or GED, and CRCST/CBSPD certification within 6 months of hire (CER preferred). The role is on-site with a 2nd shift and 20 total weekly hours; compensates hourly based on experience.

Qualifications

• Previous sterile processing experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• CRCST/CBSPD Certification within 6 months of employment; CER preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, inspects and assembles surgical instruments, powered surgical equipment, and endoscopes into instrument trays or packages for sterilization.
• Collects, cleans, disinfects patient care equipment and surgical instruments from units, O.R., L&D and invasive areas.
• Assists in orientation and training of new hires.
• Operates, monitors and documents results of decontamination and sterilization equipment.
• Delivers patient care equipment, inventories carts and replenishes supplies for OR and centralized case carts.
• Transports soiled and sterile instrumentation between facilities.
