Job summary

Saint Luke’s South Hospital in Overland Park, Kansas is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to process, sterilize, and document instrument sterility in the surgery department and on-site/off-site clinics in accordance with AORN and AAMI standards.

Shift Details: Monday-Friday Evening Shift. Weekend Rotation and Holiday Call Required. 1 year CRCST certification is required and candidate should be detail-oriented and patient-safety focused.

Qualifications

• 1 year CRCST certification or equivalent
• CRCST certification from HSPA is preferred
• Experience in sterile processing environment is desirable

Responsibilities

• Process, sterilize, and document sterility of instruments used in surgery and clinics.
• Decontaminate and assemble instrument sets and trays; verify function and integrity of instruments.
• Label and return instruments to proper locations; maintain clean work flow.
• Communicate effectively with team members and surgery staff; maintain patient safety.

Shift Details: Monday-Friday Evening Shift. Weekend Rotation and Holiday Call Required.

The Work

• Responsible for the processing, sterilization, and documentation related to sterility of instruments used in the surgery department and on-site/off-site clinics in accordance with AORN and AAMI standards.
• Decontaminates and assembles instrument sets and surgery trays using count sheets. Verifies proper function and integrity of instruments. Labels instruments correctly and returns them to their proper location.
• Communicates effectively and positively with team members and surgery staff.
• Moves with a sense of urgency when needed.
• Efficient in the quality execution of instrumentation that is directly related to patient safety and department efficiencies.
• Familiar with AAMI Joint Commission and APIC standards related to infection control.
