Job Summary

UK Healthcare is seeking a Central Sterile Tech to operate as a vital member of our hospital team, assisting frontline workers during complex and high-acuity cases.

The Central Sterile Tech is responsible for assembling and processing surgical instrument trays, decontaminating used instruments to prevent infections, and maintaining supplies. The role also includes answering unit phone calls, responding to OR requests, and keeping the department/workstation clean.

Qualified candidates should have knowledge of regulatory standards for universal precautions, sterilization methods, and biological monitoring standards.

Required Related Experience

2 years

Required License/Registration/Certification

None required at hire; CRCST certification is preferred and can be obtained within 18 months of employment.

Shift

Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., with some on-call, holiday, and weekend requirements.

Applicants with CRCST certification are eligible for a grade 7 position with a pay range of $17.50 to $27.31/hour. Non-certified applicants may receive a pay increase and move into the certified role after obtaining certification and 90 days of employment.

Pay is based on experience.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Basic knowledge of aseptic techniques, universal precautions, OR instrumentation, processing techniques, and equipment care. Ability to follow policies and manufacturer guidelines.

Preferred Education/Experience

Experience in sterile processing and CRCST certification are highly preferred.
