Job summary

Prime Healthcare St Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL is seeking a Central Sterile Technician for the Evening shift (3:00 PM–11:30 PM) with rotating weekend/holiday call within a 60-minute commute. Responsibilities include decontamination, preparation, and sterilization of sterile trays and instruments in the Medical Supplies department.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, 2+ years in central sterile environments, and relevant certifications; BLS certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required for new hires.
• Two (2) years’ experience as a Central Sterile Technician preferred.
• Central Supply Certified certification, preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate, preferred.
• At least two (2) years experience as a Central Sterile Technician required.
• Central Supply Certified certification required within two years from date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, prepare, and sterilize Central Sterile trays, instruments, and equipment.
• Manage inventory and restock supplies.
• Perform computer data entry and batch patient charge cards.
• Demonstrate knowledge of department locations and access to all areas.
• Maintain clear verbal and written communication with team and other departments.

Responsibilities

The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for decontamination, preparation, sterilization of Central Sterile trays, instruments, equipment, inventory and restocking of supplies, computer data entry and patient charge card batching. Demonstrates knowledge of all department locations within facility and ability to access all departments. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates detailed awareness and knowledge of patient supplies and equipment.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014.

2. Two (2) years’ experience as a Central Sterile Technician in an acute care hospital setting preferred.

3. Central Supply Certified certification, preferred

4. Current BLS (AHA) certificate, preferred

Facility Specific Requirements (as applicable required):

5. At least two (2) years experience as a Central Sterile Technician required

6. Current BLS (AHA) certificate.

7. Central Supply Certified certification required

8. Central Supply Certified certification required within two years from date of hire at designated facilities
