Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a full-time Sterile Processing Technician to join the Chicago area SPD team. The role involves decontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of instruments, ensuring accurate tray counts and proper labeling.

You will operate sterilizers, perform biological/chemical tests, and maintain a clean, compliant work area. The position requires a high school diploma and approximately one year of SPD experience, with on-site shifts Monday through Friday, no weekends or

Qualifications

High school diploma; 1 year SPD experience.
Ability to communicate and follow directions; computer skills.
Certified Central Service Tech within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Decontaminate instruments and equipment; wear protective attire and follow procedures.
Assemble, package and wrap trays; verify correct instruments and tray counts.
Operate and monitor sterilizers; run biological and chemical indicators and document results.
Perform inventory, storage and distribution of sterile items; ensure contamination-free environment.
Support Sterile Processing in low-temperature/ Sterrad sterilization and maintain equipment functionality.
Demonstrate leadership by adjusting daily work assignments and guiding colleagues.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and share process improvements.
