Qualifications

• Perform and validate cleaning processes following SEARHC policies, manufacturers' instructions, and AAMI guidelines.
• Maintain records and interpret biological monitoring results for sterilization procedures.
• Communicate effectively with providers to address instrument shortages.
• Verify equipment functionality and facilitate maintenance or repair when necessary.
• Assist with supply management and inventory checks as time permits.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule/Shift

Monday through Friday with rotating shifts: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, or 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM.

Job Description

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, disinfection, sterilization, and packaging of instruments and equipment used in various healthcare services. The role includes thorough disassembly of instruments to remove debris and bioburdens prior to sterilization, performing multi-step cleaning processes including autoclaving, and maintaining accurate records for all sterilization procedures. Effective communication with providers and staff is essential to resolve any instrument shortages and verify proper functionality of equipment.

Certifications/Licensure

Certification in Sterile Processing and/or Technology is required through either the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HPSA). Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is also required.
