Job summary

SEARHC is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support Juneau Specialty Clinic and Juneau Primary Care. You will decontaminate, disinfect, sterilize, and package instruments according to SEARHC policies and AAMI guidelines.

Responsibilities include maintaining sterilization records, communicating with staff to resolve shortages, and assisting with inventory and training. A healthcare background and sterile processing certification within 1 year are preferred; BLS within 60 days is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current BLS certification or obtained within 60 days of hire.
• Certification in Sterile Processing/Technology within 1 year.
• Clinical competency within 3 months and every 3 years.
• 1 year healthcare experience preferred.
• Knowledge of infection control and sterile techniques preferred.
• Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, disinfect, sterilize and package instruments per SEARHC and AAMI guidelines.
• Maintain records of all sterilization procedures and monitoring.
• Communicate with providers to solve instrument shortages and substitutions.
• Verify equipment function and arrange maintenance or replacement.
• Train and certify team members on SEARHC sterilization processes.
• Handle supply duties: ordering, inventory checks, basic management.
