Job summary

SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, disinfect, sterilize and package instruments for Juneau Specialty Clinic and Primary Care. The role supports reprocessing and adheres to AAMI guidelines, CBSPD/HPSA expectations, and SEARHC policies.

Required: high school diploma/GED, BLS within 60 days, Sterile Processing certification within 1 year, and 1 year healthcare experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current BLS certification or obtained within 60 days of hire.
• Sterile Processing certification within 1 year of hire (CBSPD or HPSA).
• Clinical competency required within 3 months and every 3 years.
• 1 year experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
• Infection control knowledge preferred.
• Knowledge of sterile techniques and inventory management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, disinfect, sterilize and package instruments and equipment.
• Disassemble instruments to remove debris and bioburdens prior to sterilization.
• Perform autoclaving and multi-step reprocessing procedures.
• Maintain records of sterilization procedures and QA checks.
• Communicate with staff to address instrument shortages and substitutions.
• Ensure equipment functions properly and coordinate maintenance as needed.
• Assist in training team members on SEARHC sterilization processes.
• Support supply handling for Specialty and Primary Care areas.
