Job summary

Children's Wisconsin is seeking a Sterile Processing Specialist to ensure surgical instruments and equipment are clean, decontaminated, properly assembled and sterilized for patient care.

In this role you will support the patient care team by preparing trays, maintaining safety standards and participating in weekend/holiday rotations. High school diploma and 1+ year experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED/HSED required.
• 1+ years experience as a Sterile Processing Tech preferred.
• Analytical ability to learn and differentiate different types of instruments, supplies and equipment.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with physicians, nursing staff and patients/families.
• Ability to stand and maneuver equipment for extended periods of time.
• Knowledge of complex instrumentation preferred.
• Basic knowledge and skill of computer use.
• Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required.

Responsibilities

• Receive, clean and decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment per manufacturer's guidelines.
• Identifies, inventories, inspects and assembles surgical instrument trays for the designated departments.
• Provides for proper sterilization of prepared items.
• Operates and maintains departmental equipment in a safe and efficient manner and takes appropriate action.
• Assembles and dispenses case carts, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Set up and dispatch specialty carts and emergency carts according to procedures.
• Maintain work environment in a safe, clean orderly manner.
• Cleans scopes as needed per department demands.
