Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Successful completion of an approved Sterile Processing Course or willingness to complete within 1 year of hire.
• Experience is preferred, on-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

• Performs SPD Tech duties independently and assists in training new staff.
• Sorts, decontaminates, rinses and disinfects instruments and clinical equipment; operates cleaning equipment.
• Handles waste, linens and biohazardous materials according to safety guidelines.
• Maintains safety standards and uses count sheets to assemble, wrap, and label instruments.
• Stores sterile supplies and selects appropriate sterilization methods; documents sterilization loads.
• Tracks medical supplies to customers in a timely, accurate manner; requiring use of Sterile Processing equipment.
• Maintains clean, orderly work area and supports hospital mission, policies, and confidentiality.
• Communicates supply issues to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
