Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette is seeking a Central Sterile Technician to perform inspection, decontamination, assembly and sterilization of instruments per guidelines. You will operate department equipment safely, support multiple departments, and document sterility processes daily at our Michigan facility.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma, demonstrate critical thinking and judgment, and can work under pressure with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

• Provides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
• Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.
• Provides customer service to all departments with a focus on the patient need.
• Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
• Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.
