Rochester Regional Health seeks a part-time Sterile Processing Tech at 2 Coulter Road, Clifton Springs, NY, to support the Sterile Processing Dept with sterilization and distribution of equipment. The schedule is 20 hours weekly (Mon, Wed, Thu, 7am–3:30pm).

Responsibilities include decontamination, packing, and ensuring stock levels, with strict adherence to safety and department policies. Certification or grand-fathering provision applies.

• Transport medications from crash cart to Pharmacy for distribution.

SUMMARY As a Sterile Processing Tech, your exceptional sterilization and processing abilities provide staff with the equipment they need to perform safe and successful procedures.

STATUS: Part-Time, Days LOCATION: 2 Coulter Road Clifton Springs, NY 14432 DEPARTMENT: Sterile Processing Dept SCHEDULE: 20 Hrs Weekly; Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 7am - 330pm

Key Responsbilities:

• Responsible for processing and supplying sterile goods and equipment to all areas within the hospital, including decontamination, gleaning, packing, sterilizing, storing, and distribution.
• Maintains appropriate supplies used in the process of sterilizing items for use in the hospital and any other institution or organization deemed appropriate by the administrative staff.
• Reports any supply not readily available to appropriate parties for replenishment.
• Distributes needed supplies and equipment throughout the hospital and affiliates as ordered.
• Follows all department policies and procedures when distributing supplies and equipment.
• Keeps assigned areas clean, organized, and fully stocked with necessary supplies.
• Collects and cleans soiled equipment and machines, and maintains clean carts and shelves on floors, utilizing appropriate protective equipment and attire.
• Transport medications from crash cart to pharmacy.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Successfully passed a nationally accredited central service exam and holds and maintains one of the following credentials:
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician credential
• Certified Sterile Processing & Distribution Technician credential -OR-
• Grand-fathering Clause: Must provide evidence of employment or contract services as a Central Service Technician in a health care facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring between 1/1/2011 – 1/1/2015.

Required License/Certification Skills:

• Central Service Technician certification required within 18 months of hire if does not meet grand-fathering requirements.
• Sterile Processing certification required within 18 months after employment if Hard to Fill clause is utilized
• Employees with Provisional Certification from IAHCSMM must obtain complete certification within 6 months from hire.

EDUCATION: LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

• CRCST - Certified Registered Central Service Technician - International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Heavy - This category includes physically intensive work such as lifting heavy materials (up to 100 lbs.), climbing ladders, crawling into tight spaces, and working on uneven, slippery, or elevated surfaces. Employees must demonstrate strong motor coordination, balance, and spatial awareness to safely operate tools and equipment. High visual and auditory alertness is required, especially in areas with moving machinery. Emotional demands are moderate, focusing on hazard recognition, task accuracy, and adherence to safety standards. Environmental exposures may include extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, loud noise, and mechanical hazards. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and periodic physical examinations are often required. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. Any physical requirements reported by a prospective employee and/or employee’s physician or delegate will be considered for accommodations.

PAY RANGE: $20.75 - $25.00 CITY: Clifton Springs POSTAL CODE: 14432 The posted pay range is a good faith representation of potential base pay for this position. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates could vary based on position details and FTE. Pay is determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, locations, and contracts.
