Job summary

Baptist Health Care in Pensacola, FL is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician I. This role disassembles, cleans, sterilizes, and stores surgical instruments and supplies for the operating room and related areas. The position mainly works in SPD with potential to assist in scrub tech tasks.

Requires strong communication, basic computer skills, and anatomical knowledge. Ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1–3 years in sterile processing.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
• 1-3 years Sterile processing experience in an operating room preferred.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) certification required.
• Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the Sterile Processing Department as defined in the scope of service to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed.
• Performs all responsibilities/duties required as a Scrub Tech as defined in the scope of service to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed.
• Carries out routine and assigned tasks of inspecting case carts, instruments, and supplies, and storing items in the appropriate place in the SPD.
• Acquires needed items and delivers them to the operating room.
• Cleans and restocks the sterile core.
• Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development.
• Assist in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization.
• May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
