Job summary

Surgery Partners, Inc is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician to prepare surgical instruments and supplies per AAMI standards. You will maintain inventory, order supplies and test sterilizers, while keeping accurate sterilization logs.

You will work to ensure aseptic techniques and instrument handling are followed in a fast-paced OR environment. This role requires a High School diploma, 2 years instrument technician experience and a Certified Sterile Processing Certificate, plus BLS.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Instrument technician experience, 2 years or equivalent.
• Certified Sterile Processing Certificate required.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.
• Knowledge of standard precautions, aseptic technique and sterilization principles.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and communicate effectively.
• Ability to perform basic math and measurements.

Responsibilities

• Organize time, equipment and supplies for the OR based on the daily schedule.
• Use equipment accurately to prevent loss or damage of instruments.
• Maintain aseptic techniques and sterilization standards.
• Manage inventory in instrument, decontamination and sterile supply rooms.
• Perform daily testing and biological testing; maintain logs.
• Follow IFUs for cleaning and sterilization of instruments.
• Clean, wrap and sterilize instruments via multiple methods (steam, Sterrad, Steris, EDR).
• Ensure instruments are accounted for upon receipt from the OR.
• Assist in cleaning and turnover of OR rooms between cases.
• Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.
