Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician in the SPD to process surgical instruments and medical devices, including decontamination, sterilization, and case-cart assembly. The role requires maintaining instrument knowledge, accurate record-keeping, and adherence to infection prevention standards in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications include a High School diploma or GED, excellent communication, and proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assists in processing of instruments, trays, and case carts. Maintains knowledge of instruments and sets.
• Checks expiration dates on sterile items and takes action on outdated items.
• Demonstrates proper phone etiquette for unit/OR Hotline callers.
• Performs daily soil rounds of medical units and returns items to SPD for processing.
• Operates decontamination and processing machinery and manages workflow accordingly.
• Records all processed loads and logs biological indicators accurately.
