Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Department technician to assist in processing instruments and maintaining decontamination workflows in our facility in New Jersey. The role supports the SPD team to ensure instruments and trays are ready for surgical cases with accuracy and speed.

Responsibilities include inventory control, instrument sterilization, record keeping, and adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Assists in processing of instruments, surgical trays, and surgical case carts in the Processing area.
• Checks expiration dates on sterile items.
• Demonstrates proper phone etiquette.
• Makes daily soil rounds of the medical units.
• Performs functions in Decontamination area.
• Records all processed loads and keeps accurate records.
• Responsible for SPD department stock.
• Responsible for the daily operations of the business unit in the Supervisor's absence.
• Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
• Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 5 lbs. and stands a minimum of 1 hour a day.
