Job summary

Atlantic Health is seeking a Sterilization Technician to manage decontamination, prepping and packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments and case carts. You will ensure proper handling, documentation, and safety for patients and staff.

The role requires knowledge of sterilization methods (steam, HLD, hydrogen) and familiarity with instrument tracking systems, with emphasis on accuracy, speed, and infection-control standards.

Qualifications

• Reads, writes, speaks and understands English.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to lift heavy surgical sets.
• Maintains infection control standards and patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Operates decontamination, prepping and packaging for sterilization.
• Prepares and sterilizes instruments per standard procedures.
• Handles case carts and patient care equipment with care.
• Maintains accurate records and reports issues with sterilization equipment.
• Ensures safe handling of infectious waste and adherence to safety rules.
• Adheres to Standard Precautions and FSC policies.
• Supports inventory and instrument tracking across shifts.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Complies with JCAHO/AAMI standards for sterilization.
