Job summary

Responsibilities

• Analyze OR schedule to identify instrument needs.
• Remove soiled equipment from Patient Care Units, Surgery, LD, and ED as needed.
• Operate sterile processing equipment (washers, decontaminators, steam sterilizers, ultrasonics, Sterrad, Steris, heat sealers) per manufacturer instructions.
• Wear PPE in the decontamination area.
• Maintain sterile core hygiene and restock per policy; attend in-services.
• Create accurate case carts using resource maps and pick tickets.
• Replace inventory and store returned supplies to maintain sterility.
• Maintain inventory and process instruments with instrument tracking software.
• Inspect and maintain instruments to ensure proper functioning.
• Ensure sterility is established and maintained and records kept.
• Participate in inventory management.
• Organize daily work assignments in department.
• Ensure sterility logs are filed.
• Schedule sharpening of instruments.
• Receive products and place orders for new ones.
• Communicate with Operating Room Manager.
