Job summary

AdventHealth in Overland Park, Kansas is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician to assemble and sterilize instruments, maintain records, and ensure aseptic technique across the department. You will operate sterilization equipment, verify indicators, and follow recall procedures while communicating with hospital teams to support safe patient care.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and infection control.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Strong attention to aseptic technique and record-keeping.
• Proficient with computer systems for logging records.
• Flexibility to work day shift and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Selects materials and packaging for instrument sets, ensuring aseptic wrapping.
• Verifies sterility indicators and lot stickers on all instrument sets.
• Operates sterilization equipment and selects correct process per instructions.
• Reviews sterilizer charts and records parameters before release.
• Maintains logs of sterilization results and recalls processes.
• Identifies reusable items for decontamination and chooses cleaning methods.
• Assembles instruments and sets; records counts in system.
• Documents recall results and notifies supervision.
• Communicates with hospital departments to resolve issues.
• Trains new staff and participates in department meetings.
• Rotates through decontamination, tray assembly, sterilization, and equipment management.
• Other duties as assigned.
