Qualifications

• CRCST or CSPD certification required.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic computer skills helpful for troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of surgical instruments and specialty instruments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates surgical instruments per manufacturer instructions or guidance.
• Operates all decontamination equipment including washer disinfections, ultrasonic cleaners, cart washer and washer automation.
• Inspects instruments after decontamination for cleanliness, integrity, and accountability.
• Assembles instrument trays ensuring sterility and ease of use for end users.
• Uses count sheets to ensure trays are assembled accurately.
• Interfacing with departmental tracking systems for processing functions.
• Assembles, packages or containers instrument sets per guidelines and standards.
• Loads sterilizer carts and ensures items remain intact, updating tracking system.
• Performs daily sterilizer testing and monitors records for accuracy.
• Operates sterilizers per instructions and ensures biological monitoring per load.
• Documents load contents and verifies cycle parameters in tracking system.
• Unloads sterilizers and stores items in designated locations; scans updates in tracking system.
• Picks scheduled cases according to preference cards and surgical schedule.
• Provides support for daily operations and ensures departmental coverage.
• Reports to shift supervisor and assists with priorities and projects.
• Coordinates coverage during supervisor absences.
