Job summary

Hancock Health in Indiana seeks an Instrument Technician for the Central Services department. You will select and assemble high-quality instrument sets, perform decontamination, wrapping, and sterilization, and coordinate with the OR staff to ensure timely availability of instruments for procedures.

You will train staff on instrument duties and maintain comprehensive sterilization records, including Biologicals and recalls. Strong teamwork and communication are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED required.
• CRCST/CSPDT/CFER within one year of hire or national certification or Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from NBSTSA required.
• 2 years of knowledge and skills in Central Services preferred.
• Knowledge of surgical instruments, basic aseptic techniques, medical terminology and the healthcare environment.
• Surgical related experience involving care and maintenance of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Instrument set assembly and quality checks; decontamination and wrapping of instruments; sterilization processes.
• Monitor OR schedule instruments needed daily and coordinate borrowing as required.
• Train personnel in instrument duties, decontamination, set assembly, wrapping and sterilization of sets; update OR schedule throughout the day.
• Maintain records of sterilization, including biologicals and implant tracking; monitor instrument status.
