Job summary

Albany Med Health System seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to retrieve, decontaminate, assemble and sterilize surgical instruments. You will rotate through all area functions, document actions, and ensure proper handling of instrument sets for the operating room.

Responsibilities include loading autoclaves, performing high-level disinfection, and maintaining Instrument Tracking System records; HIPAA and regulatory compliance apply. Equal opportunity employer. Training provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CBSPD or HSPA).
• CRCST certification within one year if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Retrieval and decontamination of soiled/used surgical instrumentation.
• Inspect, assemble and package delicate instrumentation.
• Operate sterilization equipment and transport supplies.
• Build case carts for the operating room and replenish stocks.
• Rotate through all area functions as needed.
• Record results in the Instrument Tracking System and maintain documentation.
• Observe monitors and report any discrepancies to supervisor.
• Issue items to customers and departments per procedures.
