Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CRCST/CSPDT/CFER within one year of hire or NBSTSA CST certification required.
• Basic computer skills required.
• 2 years of knowledge and skills in Central Services preferred.
• Knowledge of surgical instruments, aseptic techniques, medical terminology, and healthcare environment.
• Surgical-related experience in care and maintenance of equipment.
• Mandatory annual continuing education: Customer Service, Fire and Safety, HIPAA, Infection Control, Corporate Compliance.

Responsibilities

• Select and assemble instrument sets for procedures.
• Process instruments: decontamination, wrapping, sterilization, and checking sets.
• Coordinate instrument availability with OR schedule and borrowing needs.
• Maintain records of sterilization and instrument status.
• Train personnel in instrument duties and sterilization procedures.
• Update the OR schedule throughout the day.
• Communicate with internal and external customers and vendors.
