Job summary

DHR Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech II to join the Surgical Services team in Brownsville, TX. This full-time role focuses on preparing, decontaminating, and sterilizing instruments, assembling trays, and maintaining inventory for the OR and related areas.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma or GED, at least 3 years of sterile processing experience, and preferably CS Technician certification.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 3 years’ experience as a sterile processing tech required.
• Central Service Processing Technician Certification is preferred

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others.
• Collects dirty equipment and instruments
• Sorts, loads, unload and decontaminate equipment and instruments according to procedures.
• Cleans, repackages, and sterilizes instruments according to procedures.
• Assembles trays, basin sets, packages, instruments and equipment and prepares items for sterilization
• Decontaminates, restocks and assembles case carts and surgical trays
• Ensures specialty carts are stocked and ready for immediate use
• Perform quality control through routine testing and cleaning to assure sterilization equipment and instruments are functioning properly.
• Inspect equipment, instruments, and packaging for cleanliness, defects and/or malfunctions.
• Document sterilization cycle.
• Labels products with sterilization date.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
• Performs weekly inspections of all sterile items in the OR department
• Checks outdated items and package integrity of wrapped sterilize processing area
• Maintains and updates the instruments tray inventory list following policies and procedures.
• Serves as a resource person in the department by training and developing new staff
• Serves as a preceptor for new staff
• Completes all additional assigned educational requirements
