Job summary

Townsen Memorial Hospital in Houston, TX is seeking a dedicated Sterile Processing Technician to ensure a sterile and functioning supply of materials and equipment for patient care. You will decontaminate, sterilize, assemble and test instruments, trays, and reusable devices according to established standards.

Applicants should have a High School diploma or GED, SPD certification, and BLS. One year of healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• One year of current experience within the last three years in a healthcare setting.
• SPD Certification from an accredited program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.

Responsibilities

• Operates sterile processing equipment (washers, steam, gas, ultrasonic and chemical sterilizers).
• Documents and maintains accurate sterilization records.
• Inspects, assembles and test general and specialty instrumentation for proper functioning.
• Prepares trays for designated areas according to policies and procedures.
• Stocks, manages and documents inventory appropriately to avoid shortages of supplies and materials.
