Job summary

The Christ Hospital Health Network is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to perform decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and trays in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will operate sterilizers, monitor loads, document processes, and support operating room and Pre-op/PACU needs, with an emphasis on safety and infection control.

High school diploma or GED and 2 years Central Service experience required; CRCST certification preferred and must be obtained within the

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED is required.
• Years of experience: 2 years Central Service experience required.

Responsibilities

• Disassembles, cleans, and disinfects instruments and equipment.
• Operates equipment used in decontamination: sonic washer, cart washers, washer sterilizers and decontaminators.
• Performs cleaning tasks in the work area as assigned.
• Uses universal precautions (gloves, face shields, gown).
• Assembles instrument trays and packs following written instructions and protocols.
• Loads sterilizer carriage and transports trays to sterilization area.
• Checks trays, packs, and basins on sterilizer carriage; ensures correct procedures are followed.
• Documents all sterilization information accurately; may use computer.
• Builds surgical cases by pulling supplies and labeling locations.
• Fulfills requests from OR and Pre-op/PACU as needed.
