Job summary

El Camino Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician I to support the Sterile Processing Department. This developmental level position handles decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and distribution of reusable medical equipment and supplies under supervision.

Requirements include a high school diploma, at least three months sterile processing or OR experience or completion of a sterile processing program, good communication, and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Three months experience in sterile processing and/or operating room in an acute care setting, or successful completion of a sterile processing program.
• Demonstrates effective oral and written communication and customer-service.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Decontamination, preparation and assembly, sterilization processing, storage and distribution.
• Supervision by the Manager and Shift Supervisor of the Sterile Processing Department.
• Develop and maintain current knowledge of SPD procedures, including cleaning, disinfection, sterilization and preparation of RME.
• Serve as a proctor for sterile processing students and follow SPD policies and IFU guidance.
