Job summary

UVA Health in Charlottesville seeks Sterile Processing Technicians to support high-acuity surgical services across the perioperative environment. Roles welcome both entry-level and experienced candidates, with laddered advancement and opportunities for certification and growth.

Position involves decontamination, sterilization, tray preparation, instrumentation tracking, and OR readiness within a Magnet-recognized academic medical center.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Sterile Processing experience preferred but not required for entry-level opportunities.
• Certification through HSPA (CRCST) or CBSPD is preferred for qualified candidates and may be required for advancement within the Sterile Processing career ladder.

Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, cleaning, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instruments and equipment.
• Prepare and assemble surgical trays following established tray listings.
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment and document all parameters to ensure compliance and safety.
• Maintain accurate tracking of instruments and trays using barcode systems.
• Support Operating Room readiness by pulling cases, restocking supplies, and expediting instrumentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, regulated, and compliant work environment.
