Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification as a Central Service Technician preferred within 18 months.
• Successful completion of orientation and competency requirements within four months of hire.
• Knowledge of storage, handling and distribution of sterile medical products.

Responsibilities

• Performs cleaning, inspection and protective measures after instrumentation use to ensure proper operation.
• Consults with Sterile Processing Manager to plan instrumentation needs and turnaround.
• Collaborates with vendors, nursing and equipment staff to ensure instrumentation is available for surgeries.
• Demonstrates competence in decontamination and sterilization processes.
• Assesses surgical environment for safety risks and mitigates them.
• Supports organizational change and promotes teamwork and safety.
• Maintains sterile field through proper attire, aseptic technique and environmental monitoring.
• Reports unsafe conditions and assists in corrective actions.
• Performs other related duties as required.
