Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment in a clinical setting. The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and CRCST certification within 18 months, with training provided to obtain the certification.

Experience in inspection, packaging, storage, and distribution of sterile items is preferred, along with the ability to operate sterilization equipment and maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CRCST certification within 18 months or adhere to state grandfathering guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning, decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable surgical instruments and medical equipment.
• Maintain sterility and proper functionality of instruments per regulatory guidelines.
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment; ensure accurate inventory and expiration checks.
• Act as a preceptor for new employees and ensure proper technique and safety.
