Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD is hiring for a Sterilization Technician to support decontamination, assembly and sterilization needs for patients and staff. The role offers regular daytime exposure to OR and clinical areas, with a Monday-Friday schedule and 80 hours per two weeks.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED and the ability to work the stated hours, with strong attention to detail and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs decontamination, assembly and sterilization according to Infection Control and QA guidelines.
• Operates sterilization equipment including steam, ETO, hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaner, washer/sterilizer, and automated cart washer.
• Operates equipment according to manufacturer directions; maintain operator safety per competency reviews.
• Uses computer to access information and communicates with manager, supervisors and coworkers.
• Reports broken/malfunctioning instruments to supervisor or manager.
• Uses desktop and handheld devices for instrument decontamination, assembly and tracking functions.
• Answers phones and meets customers' needs professionally.
