Job summary

MercyOne Dubuque is seeking a sterile processing technician to collect, decontaminate, inspect, process, assemble and sterilize reusable medical instruments. You will ensure compliance with TJC and AAMI standards and follow IFU guidance for instruments and equipment.

Education requires a high school diploma or GED, with CRS Technician certification preferred. Proficiency in steam and H2O2 sterilization and instrument-tracking software is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician preferred.
• Strong infection control knowledge and IFU familiarity.
• Experience with instrument tracking software is advantageous.

Responsibilities

As a sterile processing tech at MercyOne, you will be responsible to collect, decontaminate, inspect, process, assemble, and sterilize reusable medical instruments and equipment, in compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) and the products Instructions for use (IFU). The IS has a strong understanding of medical terminology, infection control standards, and following policies/procedures according to American National Standard.

Schedule

• Full time 1.0 (40 hours per week)
• Rotating shifts

General Requirements

• Safe handling and transport of high dollar specialized instrumentation/equipment in accordance with vendor IFUs and TJC regulations.
• Proficient in understanding and operating our electronic instrument tracking software system.
• Knowledgeable in Steam and Hydrogen Peroxide sterilization methods.
• Ability to execute and be a resource for immediate use sterilization and/or quick turnaround methods.
• Ability to navigate, understand, and apply the IFU software system for cleaning new instruments and equipment.
• Knowledge and competency in the operation of ultrasonic cleaning, automated washers, steam sterilizers, and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers.
• Maintains a working knowledge of TJC and AAMI standards.

Education

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician preferred.
