Job summary

MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, IA is seeking a Sterile Processing Instrument Technician for full-time evening shifts. You will clean, sterilize, assemble, and distribute instruments for the OR and Mercy Clinic settings under supervision of the OR lead.

Strong teamwork and initiative are essential as you maintain inventory and ensure carts are ready for procedures. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent; CRCST certification is preferred after two years.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required with an interest in continuing education.
• Preferred CRCST (Certified Registered Central Supply Tech) Certificate after the 2nd year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Cooperates and communicates with and accepts direction from leadership for preparation and distribution of surgery supplies and case cart setups.
• Maintains an accurate inventory of supplies and responsible for decontamination, distribution, and recording of patient reusable supplies and equipment.
• Responsible for OR case carts being properly set up with all necessary instruments on the cart and ready for surgical use.
• Responsible for cleaning, wrapping, assembling and sterilization of hospital instruments and equipment.

Position Purpose

The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician is responsibility for the cleaning, sterilization, distribution, and recording of patient reusable supplies and equipment and the decontamination and assembly of instruments for the OR and throughout the Hospital and Mercy Family clinics. The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician is responsible for the OR case carts being properly setup and assures that all the instruments necessary to do the procedure are on the cart, ready for surgical use. The Sterile Processing Instrument Tech is responsible under the direction of a specific OR clinical leader in a specific area for instrument inventory, ordering, vendor and repair of instruments.

What you will Do

• Cooperates and communicates with and accepts direction from the Director of Sterile Processing, Surgical Services, Sterile Processing supervisor and OR clinical leaders as it relates to the preparation and distribution of surgery supplies and case cart setups on a daily basis. • Maintains an accurate inventory of supplies in work areas and assumes the responsibility for decontamination, distribution, and recording of patient reusable supplies and equipment. (team Work, Initiative)
• Responsible for the OR case carts being properly setup and assures that all the instruments necessary to do that particular case are on the cart and ready for surgical use. (Initiative, Team Work)
• Responsible for the cleaning, wrapping, assembling and sterilization of all hospital and Mercy Clinic instruments and equipment. (Initiative, Continuous Learner)

Hours/Schedule

Full time 1.0 (40 hours per week)

2nd shift (2:30pm - 11pm)

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required with an interest in continuing education.
• Preferred CRCST (Certified Registered Central Supply Tech) Certificate after the 2nd year of employment
