Job summary

Rochester Regional Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech to join the Sterile Processing team at the Potsdam, NY facility. This per diem, day-shift role focuses on preparing and maintaining life-preserving instruments and equipment, ensuring safety for patients and staff.

You will follow guidance from the Central Supply Supervisor and participate in ongoing education to stay current with sterilization standards and practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CBSPD or CRCST certification on hire or within two years.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology; able to communicate in English.

Summary

Prepare and maintain the many life preserving articles and pieces of equipment that are necessary to provide the utmost in both patient and employee safety and generate the utmost in both patient care. Follow the direction and guidance of the Central Supply Supervisor.

• Maintain extra supplies
• Updates file cards and maintains daily records
• Participates in continuing education programs in the hospital and in outside seminars and workshops.

• Basic understanding of various functions of the department. Conscientious regard for technical and minute procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of medical terminology and nomenclature of items and equipment used by the department.
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent

Required Licensure/Certification

Certification by the Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) upon hire or must obtain within two years of hire.

Physical Requirements

• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. Moderate - These roles require a combination of movement and stationary work, including frequent standing, walking, and moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs.). Tasks may involve repetitive reaching, bending, pushing, or pulling, along with maintaining awareness in high-traffic or operational areas. Visual focus and spatial awareness are critical in facilities, logistics, or support settings. Emotional demands include managing interruptions, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining compliance with safety standards. Environmental exposures may include equipment noise, shared workspaces, and occasional proximity to hazardous areas. Physical capability screening may be required.

Pay Range

$22.22 - $31.74

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
