Job summary

Atlantic Health System is seeking a Sterilization Technician to manage the sterilization and cleaning of medical equipment and supplies. The role involves preparing sterile instrument trays for surgeries, examinations, and procedures, while maintaining inventory levels and delivering sterile supplies.

The person will test and report issues with sterilization equipment, adhere to safety standards, and support infection control practices within the facility.

Qualifications

• Experience in sterilizing instruments and medical equipment.
• Ability to follow established sterilization parameters and protocols.
• Attention to inventory control and organized supply handling.
• Capable of preparing sterile instrument trays for surgeries and exams.

Responsibilities

• Operates sterilization equipment and machinery accurately and safely.
• Handles cleaning agents and lubricants appropriately for instruments.
• Peel-packs and wraps instruments; inspects for cleanliness and completeness.
• Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors while following policies.
• Cleans, sets up, sterilizes and distributes instruments per shift schedule.
• Responsible for proper disposal of infectious waste.
• Follows Standard Precautions and uses protective equipment as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
