Job summary

Hartford HealthCare in Connecticut seeks a Sterile Processing Services Educator to organize continuing education for the SPS department and ensure adherence to standardized training programs across HHC hospitals and surgical centers.

The role develops training for new SPS staff, maintains training cadence and compliance reporting, and educates personnel on proper infection prevention procedures for decontamination, sterilization, and handling of equipment and sets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• 3+ years of experience in sterile processing, with 1+ years of training experience and/or process improvement leadership and implementation
• SPS Certification required
• Ability to lift 40 pounds
• Maintain a minimum of 10 CEUs per year
• Knowledge of AAMI/JCAHO/AORN regulations
• Understanding of Lean management processes to drive process improvement and create standard
• Demonstrate proficiency in planning and delivering education and training effectively, in compliance with AAMI/JCAHO/AORN regulations and HHC protocols.

JOB SUMMARY

The Sterile Processing Services Educator manages and organizes all continuing education for the SPS department. Ensures that the HHC standardized training program is utilized. Responsible for documenting cadence and attendance, training compliance reporting, and facilitates training classes. Observes and educates the personnel performing Sterile Processing functions. Runs a rigorous training and development program for new SPS staff, as well as a remediation program for existing staff. Educates employees on proper infection prevention procedures for decontamination, sterilization, storage, transportation of equipment, sterile supplies and instruments/sets utilized across HHC hospitals and surgical centers.

Minimum Requirements

Education

• High school diploma

Experience

Licensure, Certification, Registration
