Job summary

Hartford HealthCare is seeking a Sterile Processing Department Supervisor for St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport. The role oversees sterilization and decontamination, organizes daily operations, and guides team leads and staff to ensure compliance and efficiency.

The SPS Supervisor will report to the SPS Site Manager, with responsibility for uncertified technicians and resources, contributing to a high-standard sterile processing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 3+ years of Sterile Processing Services experience required; 5+ years preferred.
• Current certification: CBSPD Sterile Processing Distribution Technician or CRCST from IAHCSMM required; additional certs preferred.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all sterilization and decontamination services for the department.
• Organize daily operations and supervise team leads, staff and department services.
• Serve as interim department manager in the absence of the SPS Site Manager.
• Direct reporting line for all SPS uncertified techs and SPS Resource Associates.

St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport has more than 3,200 employees. It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider group, and special needs services for adults and children. Under direct supervision of the Sterile Processing Site Manager, the SPS Department Supervisor oversees all sterilization and decontamination services for the department, including receiving, issuing instrumentation and soft goods. organizes the daily operations, oversight of team leads, staff, and department services. This position functions as interim department manager in the absence of the SPS Site Manager. This position is the direct report for all SPS Uncertified Techs and all SPS Resource Associates.

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preffered

Experience

• 3+ years of Sterile Processing Services experience required
• 5+ years of Sterile Processing Services experience preferred

Licensure, Certification, Registration

• Current "Sterile Processing Distribution Technician Certification" from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution Inc. (CBSPD) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from IAHCSMM required.
• One (1) additional certification from either the CBSPD or HSPA preferred.

Language Skills

• Ability to read, write and speak English required.

Knowledge, Skills And Ability Requirements

• Working knowledge of all functions of Sterile Processing Services
• Advanced knowledge of bariatric, cardiovascular, orthopedics, neuro, and robotic instrumentation required
