Job summary

Hartford HealthCare’s MidState Medical Center in Meriden, CT is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician for overnight shift (Mon-Fri, 11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.).

You will perform decontamination, sterilization, supply, case cart assembly and packaging to ensure safe, high‑quality sterile products for our operating rooms. Responsibilities include maintaining knowledge of instrumentation and equipment, running the floor in the supervisor’s absence, and collaborating with the OR to provide patient

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• CBSPD Sterile Processing Certification required or ability to become certified within 18 months of hire.
• One year experience in Central Sterile Supply preferred.
• Ability to read, write and speak English required.

Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, sterilization, supply, case cart assembly and packaging.
• Fulfill documentation to ensure distribution of high quality sterile products.
• Maintain knowledge of instrumentation, equipment, utilization, and sterile processing.
• Run the floor independently in the absence of the supervisor; perform and delegate duties.
• Collaborate with the OR to provide patient required instrumentation.
• Report to the Manager.

Job Description

Performs a variety of processing duties including: decontamination, sterilization, supply, case cart assembly and packaging. Fulfills all requirements for documentation to ensure the department is able to distribute high quality sterile products in an efficient manner to effectively meet the requirements of its customers. Maintains a thorough knowledge of instrumentation, equipment, utilization, and sterile processing. Responsible for running the floor independently in the absence of the supervisor, performs and delegates assigned duties. Works in collaboration with the O.R. to provide patient required instrumentation. Reports to the Manager.

• Current "Sterile Processing Distribution Technician Certification" from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution Inc.(CBSPD) required or ability to become certified within 18 months of hire.
• One year experience in Central Sterile Supply preferred.
