Job summary

Salem Health Hospitals & Clinics in Salem, Oregon, is hiring a Sterile Processing Tech Lead to oversee the safe preparation of surgical instruments and lead daily department operations. The role blends advanced technical expertise with team leadership to ensure sterilization quality and workflow efficiency in support of surgical care.

The position requires CRCST or CSPDT certification and at least 18 months of related experience in hospital sterile processing.

Qualifications

• Current CRCST or CSPDT certification.
• Eighteen months or more of related experience in a hospital sterile processing environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties of Sterile Processing Technician I and II including decontamination sterilization inspection and assembly of surgical instruments equipment trays and packs.
• Prepares surgical case carts using predetermined listings and may deliver carts to the surgical floor to support procedural readiness.
• Monitors supplies equipment and procedures identifying issues and reporting concerns to maintain safe efficient operations.
• Supports daily department workflow by assisting with staffing adjustments operational planning and coordination of sterile processing activities.
• Provides guidance and oversight to staff in the absence of management helping organize and administer sterile processing department operations.
• Assists with orientation training and ongoing education of sterile processing technicians while supporting the development of technical skills and performance standards.
• Maintains clear communication within the department and collaborates with team members to ensure continuity of work and effective shift coverage.
• Leads or supports quality improvement initiatives and participates in cross functional teams to implement process improvements.
• Maintains advanced knowledge of surgical services sterile processing practices and instrument classification to serve as a resource for the department.
